Has this Mars bar got smaller?

Depends how you look at it. The media have been picking up on stories that the price of confectionary items, and many groceries have remained at the same price point they are weighing less. Only 10 Rolo sweets in a tube not 11(didn’t it used to be 12).

I always like the line quoted from food makers “Manufacturers have defended the cuts, saying they want avoid passing on cost increases to consumers.” But if you are getting less for your money you have passed on some of the costs. Come clean please. Prices of energy and raw materials are up and you still want to make a profit you have charge more.

Consumers work on price not on some complicated thinking of what am I getting for my money. So you spend the same amount of money only you don’t get as much in your basket. You notice the rising prices with foods sold at standard weights like flour, rice, and bread.

  1. Mars bars are definitely smaller, by about 10g, but they are the same price. I feel there is a dishonesty by the manufacturer by not coming clean and telling us it has happened. They were always quick enough to promote , say 10% extra free, so why not 10% less for free???!

  2. We’re basically being ripped off twice over!
    Firstly.
Yes ALL chocolate bars, not just mars ARE shrinking, to the point that they are starting to look ridiculous! – A greasy spoon near me had a mars & a snickers bar up on their wall for years. I recently compared a mars bar I bought from the nearby shop and it WAS tiny in comparison, the weight also confirmed it. A pathetic 58g compared to the other bar that was 15 – 25g heavier. And this was a bar probably from the early 2000’s, that when compared to the 70’s & 80’s versions of the same, would equally have shrunk most probably. All in the name of obesity!?? – Rubbish, that ‘excuse’ is more to do with our lazy ass, push button, instant gratification society we live in as a whole these days.
    Secondly.
We’re being ripped off twice, because, whilst the size is stealthily shrunk, do you see the price shrinking as well to match!?? – Of course bloody not! .. In fact the REVERSE! – That measly 58g excuse of a Mars bar cost me 50p !!! – (& this is not taking into account the extreme rip off prices of garages & vending machines!) – The highest price in the history of the mars bar, for the Lowest volume of product in return, in the history of that product …
I tell you we’re having the P*ss taken out of us so much, in so many ways & so blatantly. That we’ll never have to go to toilet for a slash again, as it’ll all be siphoned out of us!!
